In this episode we recap week 2 of my walking progression as I work my way back to running. Discussed in this video is how important progressing exercises is important with any workout program, but especially someone coming back from injury. Not all exercises are created equal and each exercise has a specific purpose in the grand scheme of achieving a goal. How we choose the exercise, load the exercise, progress the exercise through variables such as intensity, speed, and volume all matter when we are interested in progressing anyone in a rehabilitation setting or in a performance setting.
Also mentioned in this video is a tip on how to improve motivation by performing workouts in places that are aesthetically pleasing to you. Now, I understand it is probably not feasible to have every exercise session be in a place that is aesthetically pleasing, but if you plan to have some walks/runs in specific place every week or every few weeks, it should motivate you to train during the days that are on treadmills or in the neighborhood with the notion that you will one day get to exercise/race at the more desired locations.
I hope that you all have been enjoying my journey so far. If you have any comments or questions feel free to leave them down in the discussion section. If you have any thoughts on specific topics that you would like me to cover please let me know so that I can make this more applicable to you as a fellow walker/runner.
